Privacy Policy

SnowBlo collects what it needs to connect a job with someone who will do it, and not much else. We do not sell your information.
What we collect
When you create an account: your email address, and if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. We never receive your Google password.
When you post a job: the property address, a neighbourhood name, a phone number, what needs clearing, what you’re paying, and any access notes you write. We look the address up to place it on a map, which gives us its coordinates.
When you list a business: your business name and structure, phone number, business license details where your city requires one, insurance carrier and policy details, your equipment, and the areas you choose to work in.
When you pay a fee: your payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a record that a payment happened and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store your full card number.
Automatically: basic technical information like your browser type and the pages you visit, used to keep the site working.
When you visit any page: we count it. We use Vercel Analytics to see how many people viewed a page, which site sent them to us, roughly what country they were in, and whether they were on a phone or a computer. It does not use cookies, it does not follow you to other websites, and it does not identify you as an individual. We use it to find out whether anyone is actually reading a page before we spend time improving it.
Why we collect it
- To show jobs to businesses that might take them, and to let you claim one.
- To give the business that claims your job the address and phone number they need to do it.
- To message you — by text, email, or both, as you choose — when your job is claimed, when a job you might want is posted, and when snow is forecast.
- To verify that businesses claiming high-risk work carry the insurance they say they do.
- To charge access fees and keep records of them.
- To count visits, so we know which parts of the site people actually use.
- To investigate complaints and remove people who cause them.
Who it is shared with
The business that claims your job gets your address, your phone number, and your access notes. That is the point of the service. No other business sees them.
Companies that run parts of the site: Supabase stores our data, Vercel runs the website and counts visits to it, Mapbox turns addresses into maps, Stripe processes payments, Twilio sends text messages, and Resend delivers email. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Nobody else. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. If we are ever legally required to hand something over, we will, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden to.
Text messages
If you give us a phone number, you agree to receive text messages from SnowBlo about jobs you post or claim, and alerts when snow is forecast in your area. Message frequency varies with the weather — expect more in February than in October.
Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of using SnowBlo, and we do not share your phone number with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Job records are kept while your account is open, because both sides sometimes need to refer back to a job months later. Fee records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Business license certifications are kept for three years, which California law requires of a referral agency.
Close your account and we delete your personal information within 30 days, apart from records we are required to keep.
Your choices
- See what we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Correct anything that's wrong — most of it you can edit yourself.
- Delete your account and the personal information in it.
- Choose whether you hear from us by text, email, or both, and switch storm alerts off entirely, on your alerts page.
- Stop text messages by replying STOP, or by removing your number.
- Ask us not to sell or share your information — we don't do either, so there is nothing to opt out of.
If you live in California, the CCPA gives you these rights explicitly, and we will not treat you differently for using them. Email support@snowblo.org and we will respond within 45 days.
Security
Connections to the site are encrypted. Addresses and phone numbers are withheld by our servers rather than merely hidden in the page, so a determined person cannot read them out of the website’s code. Payment card details never touch our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you promptly.
Children
SnowBlo is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
